This traditional home was carefully crafted to nestle within the context of one of the original neighborhoods in Steamboat Springs. Scale and proportion were considered in every move to fit the large home within the existing context without feeling out of place. Steep roof pitches were used to emphasize verticality while the building’s mass was broken down through the articulation of simple geometric forms. Upon entry, one experiences a unique vaulted hall around which the entire floor plan is organized. A secondary vault occurs in the living room, merging with the entry vault and creating a unique balcony overlook. Eclectic in nature in many ways this home still manages to work functionally and artistically while stimulating ones imagination.
